Red Meat

There has been an increase in projects involving the raising and fattening of sheep and cattle, which have had important implications in terms of the need for the cultivation of fodder, subsidized by the Government. These developments have contributed to the fulfillment of the country’s requirements for good quality meat. In 1970 meat production amounted to 7,000 tons. This figure had increased to 160,000 tons by 1999.
