The Ministry of Finance and National Economy has made the necessary arrangements to pay SR770 million to farmers producing wheat and barley. This amount is the balance of their dues for the 1996 agricultural season. The payment will be made in few days in implementation of the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz and his Deputy Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. The Minister of Finance and National Economy, Dr Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz Al-Assaf said that the payment is made to support farmers who had earlier received SR 1,400 million as part of their dues for the 1996 season. He said that the objective behind the royal directive to expedite the payment is to equip the farmers to meet the forthcoming agricultural season. The Minister indicated that over 4,000 farmers will benefit from this payment and this will have a positive benefit for the economic activity of the country.
