The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has donated more than SR 1.1 million, several precious pieces of Islamic souvenirs and copies of the Holy Quran to an Islamic museum in China, it was announced here today.
The package, including SR 1,125,000, a piece of the Kiswa of al Kaaba (black cover cloth of the House of God in Makkah), copies of the Holy Quran and copies of interpretation of its Meanings in several languages, was handed over by the Saudi ambassador to China, Dr Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Bishr, to the Islamic Civilization Museum in Chuango, China.
The handing over of the donation took place at a reception attended by the governor of Chuango district, other governors, senior government officials, most of the Arab and Islamic ambassadors
accredited to China and media representatives.
To mark the occasion, the Chief Popular Ruler of the city of Chuango, Chi Young Kang, expressed in his own name and on behalf of the people of the district in a message to the Saudi ambassador thanks to King Fahd for this generous donation.
He said thousands of Arab Muslims were living in Chuango which has a population of 7.28 million. The survival of their culture remains signalled to the Islamic civilization and the Arab-Islamic Chinese friendship, making Chuango China's most flourishing city with Arab and Islamic ancient antiquities, Kang said in his message. He added that the local government of Chuango has decided to establish a Museum for Islamic Civilization as part of its museum for the history of its ties with overseas.
The gifts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques will also be displayed at the museum of the old city of Silk as a token for peace and friendship.
