A Saudi plane, carrying relief aid for the drought-afflicted people of Afghanistan, arrived here on Saturday. The Saudi plane was sent to Pakistan in accordance with an order by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz.

The relief consignment includes tents, blankets, medicine and foodstuffs.

On arrival of the plane at Islamabad Airport, the relief consignment was received by the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Odeh Asiri, the Saudi Charge d'Affairs, Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Jahani and a number of senior officials.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Jahani said the relief aid is the second of its kind during the last three months.

“It will be sent to the headquarters of the Saudi Embassy in Kabul. The Embassy will distribute the relief materials to the residents of the drought-affected regions in Afghanistan,” he added.
