Mina, 5th March 2001
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, have expressed happiness at the reception accorded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the pilgrims who have come from all over the world, and said the Kingdom has been honored to be of service in enabling them to perform their rituals in comfort and ease. 'We feel happy and thank the Almighty God when we see these large numbers of pilgrims peacefully performing their rituals, said King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah in their speech to the Arab and Muslim nations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, read on their behalf by the Minister of Information, Dr Fouad Al Farsy. 'Thanks to the Almighty God, the entire world watched on Sunday the pilgrims at Arafat wearing their ihram and praying to God Almighty to accept their Hajj and to forgive their sins', they said and added: 'Hajj constitutes a great opportunity for the Muslim to purge his sinful acts and to pray to God Almighty to make him one of the God-fearing and dutiful persons. Thanks be to God Almighty, who has guided us in the right direction on to the path of Islam'. ‘Muslims,’ they added, ‘have been given two great occasions, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. On this great occasion, we would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to the citizens, residents and pilgrims, as well as to all Muslims in the four corners of the world.’ Source: SPA |
