King Fahd orders distribution of copies of Holy Quran
Riyadh, 3rd March 2001

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has ordered that a number of governmental agencies, Saudi embassies and Islamic institutions inside the Kingdom and abroad be provided with a total of 500,000 copies of the Holy Quran in various editions and multi-lingual translations of the Meanings of the Holy Quran, issued by the Madinah-based King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Quran, it was announced here today.

The announcement was made to the Saudi Press Agency by Sheikh Salih bin Abdul Aziz bin Mohammad Al Al- Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, who is also the General Supervisor of the Complex.

The Minister stated that the order of the King covered the Ministries of Islamic Affairs and Justice, the General Presidency for Youth Welfare, Royal Protocol in Makkah, Madinah region's governorate, Imam Mohammad bin Saud Islamic University, Islamic University in Madinah, King Fahd International Airport in Dhahran, Saudi Arabian Airline and Maternity and Children Hospital in Riyadh.

The King's order also covered the Islamic Endowment Foundation in Jeddah, King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, the private experimental establishment of Arab countries pilgrims' guides, Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeddah, Aljoraisi Group and Bin Ladin Group, he added.

The Minister stated that the King's order covered as well the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Palestinian authority, Sudanese Social Planning Ministry, United Arab Emirates' Shariqa Court, Dahook University in Iraq's Kurdistan, Moath Scientific Association for Serving the Holy Quran and Prophet's Tradition in Yemen's Taiz province, the Quranic School for the Sunnis in Togo, Fatwa departments in Lebanon, Bulgaria, Eritrea and Turkey's cities of Girason and Trabzon, Islamic Tashkent University and Australia's Islamic Center.

The Minister added that in addition, the King's order covered the cultural attaché office of the Kingdom in Kazakhstan, the Saudi embassies in Kuwait, Morocco, Syria, Pakistan, Chad, Guinea, Kenya, Sri Lanka and the United States of America, as well as the Saudi cultural offices abroad, the pavilion of the Kingdom at Muscat International Fair, some Islamic centers and institutions abroad and a group of international hotels.
