07/10/2000 King Fahd donates funds for computers
Riyadh, 7th October 2000

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has donated SR20 million to the computer project of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and his sons. The monarch's donation was announced in a cable he sent to Minister of Education Dr Mohammed Ahmed Al-Rasheed. In the cable, the King expressed appreciation for the effort to make the project a success. The King noted that the project would be useful and fruitful.

Earlier, Dr Al-Rasheed had sent a cable to the monarch referring to the initiative of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, pertaining to the introduction of computers in schools in the Kingdom. Dr Al-Rasheed said the project constitutes one of the biggest educational strides in the Kingdom and added that private individuals and corporations will undertake the financing of the project. He noted that the project will enhance cooperation among those concerned with the educational process and will link the Education Ministry with the educational administrations and schools within a comprehensive national network.
