05/09/2000 King Fahd's message to the Millennium Peace Conference
Jeddah, 5th September 2000

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has expressed appreciation for the heartfelt feelings of appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressed by the Muslim World League (MWL) and organizations and individuals participating in the Millennium Peace Conference for religious leaders. ‘We do appreciate the great efforts exerted in the field of Islamic and cultural work throughout the USA’, said the King in his cable of reply to Dr Abdullah Al-Obeid, the MWL's Secretary General.

The Monarch prayed to Almighty God to enable Muslims to hold high the banner of Islam. Dr Al-Obeid had earlier sent a cable to the King on the occasion of the end of the Millennium Peace Conference for religious leaders.

The conference was organized by the United Nations and held in New York on 28th August 2000.

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, has sent a similar cable of thanks to Dr Al-Obeid.
