Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has ordered spending SR 74,125,000 to buy 21,000 tons of local dates produced in the current season of 1421 AH. This was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Water Dr Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz bin Moammar, who stated that this noble gesture was part of the King's care extended to the agriculture sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He said the largest proportion of this dates consignment would be distributed free of charge to needy citizens while another part would be allocated to support the United Nations World Food Program as a material aid in addition to the assistance provided directly by the Kingdom to needy countries. On behalf of him and all farmers in the Kingdom, the Minister expressed thanks, appreciation and gratitude to the King for his care and support to all farmers in the Kingdom. He also expressed thanks, appreciation and gratitude to the Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of National Guard and Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, for their care and support of farmers.
