Riyadh, 13th July 2000

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has issued an order to provide the Saudi embassy in Jakarta with 200,000 copies of the Holy Quran with translation and interpretations in the Indonesian Bahasa (language). The copies have been produced at the King Fahd Quran Printing Complex.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, who is also the supervisor of the complex, said these copies of the Holy Book would be distributed among Muslims in Indonesia in coordination with the Indonesian Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

'The order was in response to a desire expressed by the Indonesian Minister of Islamic Affairs to provide his country with copies of the Holy Quran. It reflects also the Kingdom's keenness to bring Muslims closer to the Holy Book. It demonstrates King Fahd's keenness to make available the Holy Quran to all Muslims everywhere,' he added.
