18/05/2000 King Fahd attends football cup final

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz patronized a football match for the Cup of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here on Wednesday evening.

Jeddah-based Al-Ittihad Sports Club played against Jeddah-based Al-Ahli Sports Club.

Al-Ittihad won the coveted Cup beating Al-Ahli: 2:1.

The monarch was welcomed by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General, Prince Abdel-Majeed bin Abdul Aziz, the governor of Makkah region, as well as other princes and senior officials.

At the end of the second half of the match, the King left the stadium after deputizing Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to hand over the Cup and medals to the winning team on his behalf.

At the end of the match, Crown Prince Abdullah handed the Cup of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the 1420 AH sports season (and a prize of SR 300,000) to president of Al-Ittihad Club Ahmed Omer Masaud and gold medals to the players and members of the technical staff of the club.
