King Fahd orders relief aid for Mozambique flood victims
Riyadh, 5th March, 2000

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz has issued orders for the provision of relief aid to the victims of floods in Mozambique and South Africa, Chairman of Saudi Red Crescent Society Dr Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sweilim announced here on Sunday.

The orders include loading two planes with food stuff, tents and medical supplies to be sent for the victims in Mozambique and another plane to be sent to the victims South Africa, Dr Al-Sweilim said.

'This relief aid from the King is a response to the extent of the tragedy suffered by the friendly people of Mozambique and to the international humanitarian calls for help,' Dr Al-Sweilim added.

He added that ‘this generous gesture by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is part of his charitable humanitarian effort for victims of disasters around the world.' The society has begun to make arrangements in co-ordination with Saudi embassies in Mozambique and South Africa and concerned authorities to prepare, send and receive the planes.
