Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of State, Cabinet member and Head of the Court of the Presidency of the Cabinet, will inaugurate later today the Kidney Center at King Abdul Aziz University (KAAU) Hospital in Jeddah.

The Center has been equipped with the help of a generous donation by the wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, Princess Al-Jawhara Aal Ibrahim, who is the mother of Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahd.

In a statement to the Jeddah-based Saudi Gazette published today, Dr. Ghazi Obeid Madani, Rector of KAAU said that health-care was one of the top priorities of the late King Abdul Aziz, a priority adopted by his sons.

The decision by the wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to establish a Kidney Diseases Center in the University Hospital comes in recognition of the seriousness of these diseases and their adverse effect on the individual and society.

Dr. Madani said this donation will have a beneficial effect on society, the university and the hospital - and of course on kidney patients. He pointed out that the Center has been provided with efficient staff and the latest equipment.

Dr. Madani expressed the happiness of all the university personnel on the occasion of the inauguration of the Center by Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahd. He expressed thanks and appreciation to Princess Al-Jawhara for this generous support.

Dr. Talal Muhammad Baksh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences, said the Center is formed of two halls, each containing six haemo-dialysis units to carry out dialysis for 24 patients a day. In addition, there is a highly efficient water purification plant.
