![]() ![]() ![]() King Fahd talks about forthcoming GCC Summit

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, host of the forthcoming Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Summit, today expressed satisfaction on the preparedness of all authorities concerned in the Kingdom for the occasion. Leaders of the six-nation group are scheduled to convene their 20th Summit in Riyadh from 27th to 29th November. Opening the weekly cabinet session at the Royal Court at Al-Yamamah Palace, King Fahd expressed his welcome to the leaders of Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Qatar and United Arab Emirates (UAE) who arrive in the Saudi capital of Riyadh next week. He urged the Saudi authorities concerned to 'exert every effort to ensure the important event is a success. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meeting, Dr. Fouad Al-Farsy reported that the monarch had expressed the eagerness of the leaders of the GCC member states to discuss and put into effect whatever might contribute to the nation's causes. [They were committed] to upgrade the GCC and, through it, achieve a higher degree of security, prosperity and stability. In this context, King Fahd expressed full confidence in the GCC, now and for the future. King Fahd said the GCC has to its credit many political, security, military, economic, social and informational accomplishments. Al-Farsy added that the King had also expressed satisfaction at the 'vital' achievements of the GCC which qualified it to occupy an outstandingly prestigious status in all Arab, Islamic and international forums where it continually endeavors to serve its peoples, Arab and Islamic causes, and the interests of world stability.
