Algiers, 21st October, 1999
Participants in an Arab forum on tourism held in Algeria this week, lauded the preparations and arrangements made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host celebrations to mark the selection of Riyadh as capital of the Arab culture 2000. UNESCO has selected Riyadh as capital of Arab culture in recognition of its role in this field in the Arab and international arena. The forum also lauded, in recommendations issued at the end of its deliberations last night, the efforts exerted by the Palestinian National Authority to host a reception in the city of Bait Lahm to mark the advent of the third millennium. The Algerian News Agency, which carried the news today, said the gathering recommended paying utmost attention to cultural tourism in the Arab world, as the region accommodates 48 percent of the cultural landmarks, antiquities and archaeological remains of the world's most important civilizations. They also called on Arab investors to invest in the tourism sector in Algeria. Source: SPA |
