The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud sent a cable of condolence and sympathy to president Suleiman Dimeril of the Republic of Turkey for the victims of the earthquake which hit the Turkish city of Izmit. In his cable, King Fahd expressed sorrow for the loss of people and damage to property caused by the quake. He requested President Dimeril to extend the sympathy of the people and Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the families of the victims and to the people of Turkey, wishing them blessed mercy from God Almighty.
