The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has paid tribute to the organs transplant programme in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was reported here today. In a cable to the Minister of Health Dr Osamah Abdulmajeed Shobokshi to mark the 1000th kidney transplant operation at the Saudi Center for Organs Implantation (SCOI), the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz expressed satisfaction with the performance of all the personnel of the SCOI and asked the Minister to convey his appreciation to them and congratulations on their efforts. He thanked the personnel of SCOI also for their recognition of the support he was rendering to the health sector in general and organs implantation programme in particular. Earlier Shobokshi reported to the King the achievements of the SCOI which has so far transplanted 1,000 kidneys from clinically-dead patients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to needy patients, 1,580 kidneys from living relatives, 175 liver implants, 82 heart implants, 176 heart valve implants and 8,302 cornea implant operations.
