![]() ![]() ![]() King Fahd hosts meeting of leaders of the GCC

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz conferred at Al-Salam Royal Palace in Jeddah today with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and heads of delegations to the GCC first consultative conference to be held here later today. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Emir of the State of Bahrain, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zaid Al-Nahayan, Heir Apparent of Abu-Dhabi and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Saeed, Deputy Premier for Cabinet Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. From the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Mitebbin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Public Works and Housing, Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Interior Minister, Prince Majed bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Foreign Minister. It was also attended by the accompanying official delegations and Jamil Al-Hujeilan, Secretary General of the GCC. The meeting discussed fraternal relations among the GCC member state and reviewed the most important developments in the Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international arena. Addressing the meeting, GCC Secretary General Jamil Ibrahim Al-Hujeilan said that history would record that Jeddah had accommodated the GCC first consultative conference. He thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for hosting the meeting and patronizing it. In referring to the eternal absence of late Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa who passed away several months ago, the GCC Secretary General recalled the noble character and deeds of Sheikh Isa bin Salman al Khalifa for his people of Bahrain, Gulf and Arab brothers and sisters, and peoples of the Islamic Ummah. He said the achievements and survival of the GCC should be considered an Arab and Islamic accomplishment. He drew attention to the fact that the meeting had received a warm welcome in the Arab and Islamic media which suggested that it was a reflection of the prudence and wisdom of the GCC leaders and their concerns for the people of the region.
