Saudi Arabia condemns 'ethnic cleansing' in Kosovo
March 31st 1999

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deplores the massacre and expulsion of thousands of the Muslim people of Kosovo by the Serb forces.

In a statement to the SPA, an official source said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deplores the ethnic cleansing policy being practised by the regime of Milosevic in Kosovo. The Kingdom condemned the intransigent policy of the Government of Milosevic and its failure to respond positively to the international efforts for the settlement of the Kosovo problem.

Through peaceful means and in particular following the failure of Milosevic to respond positively to the peace conference held in France, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated its support for the people of Kosovo who have been facing the worst forms of repression, subjugation and expulsion by the Serb aggressors. It is high time to work for an end to the intransigence of the regime of Milosevic vis-a-vis the international peace efforts, the official source added.
