13/07/1998 King Fahd welcomes U.N. decision to accept Palestinian representation
13th July, 1998

At a meeting of the Council of Ministers which he chaired, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, welcomed the decision of the U.N. General Assembly to accept representation from Palestine, describing the move as a positive step towards that country's full membership of the United Nations.

King Fahd emphasized that Saudi Arabia would always work to support the Palestinians and their cause, which he described as of concern to the entire Arab and Muslim nation.

The Cabinet maintained the position that Israel should implement the agreements it signed with the Palestinian National Authority, and live up to all its pledges and commitments. In this regard, King Fahd expressed the hope of rallying international efforts to salvage the Middle East peace process.
