The Jubail desalination plant is the biggest water desalination station in the world. For transportation of the desalinated water inside the Kingdom, the SWCC has set up pipelines that stretch more than 1,240 miles [2,000 km]. A report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water noted that the production of desalinated water is expected to exceed 800 million gallons [3,028 million litres] per day, while the generated power is expected to exceed 5,000 megawatts. Pipelines will extend for more than 2,485 miles [4,000 km] while the number of water reservoirs will increase to 166, with a total capacity of more than 12,160,000 cubic yards [9,300,000 cu m] of desalinated water.
