To cope with the ambitious plans for agricultural development, the General Organization for Grains Silos and Flour Mills (GSFMO) was established in 1972. The main goals set for the new Organization were as follows:
- To establish and operate a comprehensive industry for the storage of grains, production of flour and forage.
- To introduce other processing activities related to grains.
- To promote the Organization’s products at home and abroad.
- To purchase grains and maintain adequate reserves to draw on in case of emergency.
- To bear in mind the goals of the Government’s agricultural policy.
