Although the responsibility for providing healthcare to the population of Saudi Arabia rests with the Ministry of Health, there are several Government agencies which also provide health services.

In addition to hospitals of the Ministry of Health, there are the university hospitals, military hospitals, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and King Khalid Specialist Eye Hospital; most of these hospitals have highly advanced technology and operate as referral hospitals.
